Race Prize Structure

The National 100K is an open race for all runners – members of running clubs, non-members, fast, not-as-fast - everyone! The open race has trophies available for the top-three male and female finishers. The British Athletics National 100K Championship is a championship held within the National 100K race for eligible* participants. Some runners (eg non-club runners, overseas runners) will run in the National 100K open race without being included in the championship results.

The National 100K incorporates the British Athletics National 100K Championship . Essentially that championship is just a way of presenting the results after the race. The fastest three eligible* (male/female) athletes will receive British Athletics medals (gold/silver/bronze). Any runner hoping to be contention of a championship medal must wear either their national vest (if they have been selected to run for their country in this race) or their first-claim club vest. Any runner who does not intend to be considered for championship medals may wear anything they choose (provided they meet UKA's rules on decency!).

The National 100K also incorporates the Anglo-Celtic Plate . This is a team competition between the national teams of England, Scotland and Wales. Unfortunately there is no team from Ireland this year.

The race also doubles as the British Athletics trial race for the 2014 100km World Championships and eligible athletes will be considered for selection to represent Great Britain **.

The National 50K is an open race for all runners – members of running clubs, non-members, fast, not-as-fast – everyone! The open race has trophies available for the top-three male and female finishers. The England Athletics National Ultra Championship is a championship held within the National 50K race for eligible* participants. Some runners (eg non-club runners, overseas runners) will run in the National 50K open race without being included in the championship results.

All finishers in both races will receive a beautiful bespoke finishers' medal depicting their 50K or 100K achievement.

The National 100K Race Director tried and failed in his attempts to run 100km in under eight hours. In his honour we have created the special After Eight Award for the first runner who completes the 100K in over eight hours. We're not sure if anybody will want to win this prize!!

*- Please note the eligibility criteria for both national championships may be found in UKA's Rules of Competition (Rule 10):
